A friend and neighbor, Jackie, asked if I would do her makeup for some headshots – presumably for professional networking sites. I said sure, as long she didn’t mind being plastered all over my blog
I never claimed to be a good photographer, but I think these are professional social media profile pic worthy, don’t you?
There was not too much involved as far as makeup is concerned, I used a foundation that I know photographs well (GA Luminous Silk), and used neutral leaning warm hues just to accentuate what she already had going on. I wouldn’t think this would be the time for editorial dramatic makeup, but what with staged backdrops featuring fake foliage and the like I would bet money there are glamour shots floating around sporting a boa, costume jewelry and all. They are so going to get the job.

There is not a more perfect palette for this occasion, in name and substance. This was my first time using it, and the colors are all a refined matte, creamy texture, and beautiful to blend.
I used this palette to add soft definition to Jackie’s eyes, using the gray color to smudge out black gel liner. She wanted to add some color with the lips, so I used MAC’s lipstick in See Sheer, and over that patted on Kevyn Aucoin The Elegant Lip Gloss in Anastasia to tone down the coral and provide some shine.
Here are a few more from the cutting room floor, though we tried tons of looks: putting the hair back, hair down….mouth wide open, tongue out, to the side, hair stuck to lips with squinty eyes – lots to work with 😉
